ICE was founded in the late 1990s and started as a specialist consultancy assisting partners on commercial RTD, software development, ICT consultancy, and European Union Research and Development project activity.
ICE personnel have been and are active in multiple voluntary bodies within the ICT environment to forward wider societal interests and to ensure we are at the leading edge of our field; for example:
Big Data Value Association
Networked Software and Service Initiative
New European Media
ICE provides long-term consultancy roles. This includes the full gamut of software development ranging from vision, to architecture, to specification, and customers and their requirements. Some examples are the launch of flagship products such as Smart Integrator, SmartBridge and webCommerce
ICE has involved TIE Kinetix (client for more than 10 years) in the NESSI and BDV initiatives. This culminated with TIE being selected as co-chair for the NESSI European Technology Platform and SME representative, and inaugural President of the Big Data Value Association
ICE personnel coordinates and conducts multi-million Euro European Projects in the research field such as CREMA, SAM, STASIS, ARUM, SIMPLI-CITY, PREMANUS, INTUITEL, NESSI 2010 and Net-Challenge. This includes Project Management, Impact Coordination and Technical Management
Mr Stuart Campbell, ICE’s Director, led and edited the BDV Public Private Partnership proposal ultimately leading to a future 1000 M € investment in the Big Data Value Ecosystem by industry and the European Union
We concept and establish winning research proposals to help clients access EU Research projects. With ICE’s guidance the clients also developed products which combined research concepts with existing tools to drive clients’ products forward
ICE delivers dissemination concepts and setups of many kinds. Examples of these activities include winning an ICT category first place at ICT-2013 and 2nd place overall at ICT-2010 at the two last editions of Europe’s leading research conference
ICE has a range of experience in the realization of complex ICT-projects — Products, Services, and R&D; Local, Cross-border, Pan-European, and International; as a Partner or as a Project Manager; from <20K to >8000K.
Our high quality development process is flexible and lightweight. ICE can create small and large software solutions quickly and follow verified and agile development practices. ICE can be a team of one, a team of many, or has experience in (and Project Managing) pan-European, Cross-company, Multicultural software projects running into 10M Euro or more. For achieving this process, ICE makes us of broad support of IT systems in the development process such as code versioning systems and continuous integration systems.
ICE and its staff have been involved in a number of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) projects, either directly or indirectly, such as the CREMA, BACON, SAM, ARUM, CREATE at both the regional and European level such as in the EU Multi-annual research programmes FP6, FP7 and now Horizon 2020. We are state-of-the-art, cutting edge, and look to the future to make use of the cutting edge approaches in software development and including use of open source. The active investment in research and innovation, coupled with the ability to partner, provides us with a foundation for the development of applications and we have a wide network of partner RDI organisations including universities, institutes and research facilities.
Our technological basis spans from Java to .Net. ICE makes use of new approaches like NoSQL databases, Semantic Technologies, Analytics, Service and everything in between. Using agile process and hybrid-agile techniques our customers benefit from rapid application development cycles, flexible implementation, and the latest in state-of-the-art technology. Our strengths are interoperable solutions, middleware, Big Data and integration as well as secure and scalable Data Management and Service Oriented Architectures.
ICE Employees are experts in several different initiatives and therefore know about current challenges and problems of different sectors. We believe in partnering whether at an organisation or association level. For example we are working in associations such as NESSI — European Software and Service Technology Platform where we are board member, BDVA — Big Data Value Association where we have been the inaugural Secretary General and run the secretariat, also other ETPs such as NEM — Network and Electronic Media. We are also proud of our record in supporting standards such as in CEN (European Standards Institute).
ICE would welcome to support your next project. ICE can provide you with consulting services in the project management as well as in the execution of your project including full implementation work.
